Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, often called Ashanti, was born on 13 October on the 13th of October, 1980 on the 13th of October, 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. The talent of Ashanti was discovered in her teens. The singer signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. She was featured on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? song that same year. The song "What's love?" by Fat Joe as well as Ja Rule's song "Always on Time were both huge hits. In the case of Foolish and What's Luv being at number one and her first number one hit, she was the only female artist to be featured in two tracks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart top ten from the United States. Ashanti Shequoiya, better known by her nickname Ashanti is a native of New Yorker, born in Glen Cove, New York on the 13th of October 13, 80. Tina Douglas is the mother of Ashanti. Ken Kaide Douglas is the father. The oldest of the three is the Kenashia Shia Douglas who is younger sister. Douglas named her after the Ashanti Empire which was located in Ghana where women had power and influence. Douglas would like Ashanti to emulate that paradigm. James her grandfather was a leader in civil rights who collaborated with Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. Her mother was impressed by Ashanti's talents following her performance of Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti made her screen debut as a child on Spike Lee's Malcolm X, in 1992. Ashanti also had part on Ted Demme's Who's the Man? She also had a few performances in music videos like K.R.S.-Act One's MC's don't even know as well as the 8-Off's Ghetto Girl. Ashanti was sought out and signed by various record labels, among them Bad Boy. She also featured in several cameos on music videos. The singer continued to tour at New York, and she was spotted in the Murder Inc. studios hoping to get a break. Ashanti was originally featured in the song of Big Pun's How We Roll as a backing vocalist. She also appeared on the Fat Joe's song What's Luv? Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's What's Luv! The song sample she uses in her first single Foolish was taken from DeBarge's with Me which was released in 1983. The album that Ashanti self-titled that was released on The album by Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration is Ashanti's forth studio album. It was released on Murder Inc. on June 3, 2008. The 16th of October Hey Baby (After the Club) was released on radio and digital outlets.
